This 1930's Sunbonnet Sue and Sam Quilt is just adorable! Beautiful colors of peach, salmon, yellow, green, blue, pink, lavender, black, red, and brown, make up the appliques
on the quilt. They are on a pale pink colored background. These are cotton prints, and solid colored fabrics, from the 1930's.
Each of the Sunbonnet Sue and Sam couples have Sam's hat & overalls, and Sue's dress, in different fabrics, while his shirt, and her bonnet & sleeve, match.
This quilt was planned with great care, with the Sunbonnet Sue and Sam couples layed out in an alternating sequence.
The back, and binding, are an antique white color. The binding is machine stitched for added strength. The hand quilting is about 6-7 stitches psi.
This lovely quilt measures 90" long x 65" wide. Each Sam applique is 10" tall, and each Sue is 8 1/4" tall. An outlining stitch is around each applique piece. It is a medium weight quilt.
The only imperfections I could find are a few stitches on two tiny areas of the pink background, and one small spot that I tried to show in the photos, next to the peach & blue colored Sam.
This is typical of a vintage quilt. This beautiful quilt would compliment any romantic, cottage style, country, or eclectic decor. It's a great piece of textile history! Oh, the stories it could tell!
